CARTC is a recently established research and survive center for advanced reproductive technology in animal species with an emphasis on camel in Dubai, UAE. We currently have a vacancy for a reproductive laboratory technician. This role will revolve around the routine techniques in a research reproductive biotechnology lab. This is a great opportunity for someone with an interest in reproductive biology to acquire a solid grounding in assisted reproduction technologies and we encourage anyone with aspirations in this area to apply.
The ideal candidate will need a sound understanding of mammalian biology, good communication skills and be computer literate.
Main duties / key responsibilities:
Main duties and responsibilities will depend on previous experience but will centre on:
Setting up and executing IVM, IVF. IVC sessions
Dissecting testis and ovary tissues and embr harvesting
Cryopreserving oocytes, embryos, and ovarian tissue
Updating archive records
Sample manageme
Media preparation
Following SOP’s
Assisting with the routine laboratory activities
The post will involve some out of hours working
Working relationships:
The post holder will report directly to the laboratory manager and will work closely with staff team.
Person Specification
Education / Qualifications / Training required:
Essential:
Higher educati education qualification in biological science.
Desirable:
B in reproductive biology.
Previous work experience required:
Essential:
Previous experience of a laboratory environment a working with laboratory animals.
Desirable:
Experience of working within the area of reproductive biology. Experience of working in a high throughput service role.
Knowledge and experience:
Essential:
Laboratory skills:
A background in biology with previous experience of working in a laboratory setting.
Team work:
Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team.
Communication skills:
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Attention to detail:
Keen eye for detail and a desire to master a range of laboratory techniques.
Organisational skills:
Ability to work independently and prioritise weekly work schedule.
Flexible working:
Ability to work within various work environments as the requirements of the clients change.
Quality control:
Ability to follow SOP’s and produce work of a high standard.

Previous experience of pre-implantation embryo culture work, cryopreservation of mammalian embry or experience of other cell systems a organ cultures.
Computer literacy:
Familiarity with data management and on-line database tools.

Previous experience of communicating with members of other laboratories within the UK and abroad.
Attention to detail:
As above but with the proven ability to trouble-shoot problems when things go wrong.
Organizational skills:
Proven history of good time management in a high throughput service environment.

Previous experience of working out of hou working patterns.
Personal skills/behaviours/qualities:

Good interpersonal and time management skills. The post holder will be working with a team of laboratory technicians and may be required to communicate with the wider scientific community.
