**Job Title: Construction Accountant**
**Position Overview:**
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of construction projects, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards and regulations. This role involves overseeing budgeting, cost tracking, financial reporting, and assisting with audits.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- **Project Cost Accounting:** Track and manage costs for all phases of construction projects, including materials, labor, subcontractors, and overhead.
- **Budget Management:** Assist project managers in creating and monitoring project budgets, ensuring all costs are aligned with projections.
- **Accounts Payab and reconcile invoices, payments, and expenses related to construction projects. Manage billing and collections.
- **Financial Reporting:** Prepare and analyze financial reports, including job cost reports, profit and loss statements, and variance analysis for ongoing and completed projects.
- **Compliance:** Ensure all financial activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements. Assist with audits as needed.
- **Payroll Management:** Coordinate payroll processes for construction workers, including tracking hours, overtime, and job-specific pay rates.
- **Contract Management:** Review and monitor contracts with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure financial terms are met and doented accurately.
- **Cash Flow Management:** Monitor project cash flow, forecast future financial needs, and report any potential financial risks to management.
- **Software Proficiency:** Utilize construction accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage 300, Procore) to maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
**Qualifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles, job costing, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software, with experience in construction-specific platforms being an advantage.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
- CPA certification or equivalent is highly desirable.
- Experience with union and non-union payroll is a plus.
