Boiler Engineer Job Profile and Description
Engineer will perform all necessary functions in the operation, troubleshooting, breakdown and preventative maintenance of all heating boilers and all related equipment, to include chemical testing and treatment of chilled water systems and boiler feedwater and steam systems.
Duties and Responsibilities
Routine servicing and maintenance of the boilers and auxiliary equipment’s.
Ensuring the maintenance of proper pressure in the boilers.
Following all safety and precautionary measures while working in the boiler rooms.
Detecting any malfunctions in the boilers and immediately repairing the same.
Keeping repair and service maintenance records.
Supervising the works of assistant boiler engineers and organizing necessary training for them.
Keeping records of meter and gauge readings and fuel consumption of the boilers.
Safely drive vehicles, and operate large complex maintenance equipment.
Education and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or an associate degree or diploma in engineering any other related field of study from a certified college.
Must be licensed in the from accredited bodies as a First-Class Engineer.
Minimum of Six (6) years of training experience in the field operating a steam plant
Ability to effectively communicate verbally (in English) and document (in written English) all daily activities associated with the safe operations and maintenance of the Plant
Knowledge and ability to handle any and all emergency situations and equipment breakdown, malfunction or failure.
Must be able to effectively reach all engineering equipment in case of an emergency and for day-to-day operations and maintenance.
Knowledge of small tools and safe handling practices associated with repair and maintenance of Plant equipment.
Ability to detect technical malfunctions in the boilers.
Familiar with Predictive Maintenance or Condition-Based Monitoring (Vibration analysis, infrared thermography, ultrasonic emissions)
Proven knowledge of continuous improvement techniques e.g. TPM trained, 5S principles, Kaizen etc.
IT skills in Word, Excel, Power-point, Lotus Notes (essential)
