Job Summary:
The Estimator is responsible for preparing cost estimates for construction projects, based on the project's scope, drawings, and specifications. The Estimator will work closely with the Estimation Manager and the project team to ensure accurate and timely estimates are provided to support the company's business development and tendering process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•Review project specifications, drawings, and other doentation to prepare accurate cost estimates for construction projects.
•Use software tools such as Excel, estimating software, and other tools to prepare detailed cost breakdowns, including materials, labor, equipment, and other project costs.
•Analyze blueprints and other doentation to prepare quantity take-offs and to identify potential cost-saving opportunities.
•Work closely with the Estimation Manager and the project team to develop bid strategies, including pricing, scheduling, and other bid parameters.
•Communicate with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to obtain pricing and quotes for materials, labor, and equipment.
•Develop and maintain relationships with key vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure accurate and competitive pricing for all projects.
•Participate in the preparation of project schedules and other planning activities to ensure accurate cost estimates are prepared.
•Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and other project-related meetings to gather information and insights to support accurate cost estimates.
•Review and analyze bid results, including project costs, competitor pricing, and other factors to develop lessons learned and to continuously improve the company's bid strategies and estimating processes.
Education a Work Experience Requirements:
•Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
•At least 7 years of experience in construction cost estimating.
•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
•Proficiency in Excel and other estimating software tools.
•Knowledge of construction materials, labor, and equipment costs.
•Familiarity with construction codes, regulations, and industry standards.
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
•Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
•Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
•Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications. • Strong organizational and time-management skills..
