We are seeking an experienced Furniture and Cladding Carpenter to join our team. The ideal candidate will be skilled in the construction, installation, and finishing of custom furniture, as well as the fitting of cladding materials for both residential and commercial projects. This role requires strong attention to detail, precision, and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
Key Responsibilities:
Furniture Carpentry:
Design, construct, and install custom furniture, including cabinets, wardrobes, shelving units, tables, and bespoke furniture pieces.
Work with a variety of materials, such as wood, MDF, plywood, and laminate, ensuring the highest quality finish.
Use both hand tools and power tools (saws, drills, routers, sanders, etc.) to shape and assemble furniture pieces.
Carry out repairs and modifications to existing furniture when needed.
Cladding Installation:
Measure, cut, and fit interior and exterior cladding materials (wood, composite panels, etc.) on walls, ceilings, and exteriors of buildings.
Install cladding systems for both decorative and functional purposes, ensuring proper alignment, sealing, and durability.
Work with both traditional and modern cladding materials, understanding the technical requirements and industry best practices.
Quality Assurance:
Ensure all installations are level, straight, and securely anchored, meeting client expectations and industry standards.
Sand, stain, paint, or finish surfaces as required for both furniture and cladding projects.
Work closely with clients, designers, and other contractors to ensure project specifications are met on time and within budget.
Site Preparation and Safety:
Measure and cut materials on-site with precision.
Ensure job sites are clean, organized, and comply with health and safety regulations.
Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition and report any issues to management.
Skills and Qualifications:
Proven experience as a carpenter, specializing in furniture making and cladding installation.
Strong knowledge of woodworking techniques, carpentry tools, and machinery.
Experience with different materials, including wood, laminate, veneer, MDF, and cladding products.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
Detail-oriented, with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
Strong communication skills to work effectively with clients, team members, and other stakeholders.
Knowledge of building codes and safety standards relevant to carpentry and cladding work.
Ability to work with tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
Formal carpentry apprenticeship or relevant trade qualification.
Experience with advanced joinery techniques or furniture design.
Ability to work with CNC machines or other modern woodworking technology.
Knowledge of eco-friendly or sustainable building materials is a plus.
