Looking for Hotel Accountant
Hotel accountant responsible for managing the finances of hotels and other lodging establishments. They work closely with hotel managers to ensure that all financial transactions are properly recorded and accounted for in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
Duties and Responsibilities
•Preparing journal entries and adjusting account balances to accurately reflect company financial statements
•Preparing bank reconciliations by reviewing and verifying the accuracy of account balances in accordance with bank statements
•Preparing financial reports, including monthly statements and annual audits, in accordance with government regulations regarding accounting standards
•Reviewing budgets and preparing estimates of future expenditures based on historical data or other available information
•Recommending changes to accounting procedures and policies to improve the accuracy of financial records
•Helping to identify which accounts should be recorded first in order to facilitate accurate recordkeeping
•Monitoring cash flow and identifying any potential problems in advance so that corrective action can be taken before an issue arises
Accounting skills:
•Hotel accountants use accounting skills to record financial transactions, prepare monthly and quarterly reports and balance the hotel’s books.
•Hotel accountants use accounting software to record and track financial data. He may also use accounting skills to prepare budgets, forecast financial data and analyze financial data to identify trends.
•Hotel accountants communicate with a variety of people, including hotel staff, other accountants and managers.
•Effective communication is essential to ensure everyone understands the information being shared.
•He should be able to communicate clearly and concisely to ensure everyone
Requirements and Qualifications
•Required minimum experience of 3 years
•High school diploma or Graduate.
•Proven accounting and hospitality experience.
•Working knowledge of PMS (Opera, Micros and Sun system)
•Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.
•The ability to multitask.
