Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled Instrumentation & Calibration Engineer to join our technical team. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing, and maintaining instrumentation systems and performing calibration services onboard vessels. As an Instrumentation & Calibration Engineer, you will work closely with our clients to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and compliance of shipboard instrumentation and control systems.
Responsibilities:
•Perform calibration and testing of instrumentation systems eg Pressure gauges, temperature indicators, electrical units indicators, sensors, transducers etc to ensure accuracy, reliability, and compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
•Develop calibration procedures and protocols for a wide range of shipboard instruments and control systems, including pressure gauges, temperature sensors, flow meters, and control valves.
•Conduct periodic inspections and audits of instrumentation systems onboard vessels to verify compliance with calibration schedules, maintenance procedures, and safety standards.
•Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with instrumentation systems, including sensor drift, signal interference, and control loop instability, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
•Provide technical support and assistance to vessel owners, operators, and crew members on the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of instrumentation systems.
•Develop and maintain doentation, including calibration certificates, test reports, and equipment manuals, to facilitate the understanding and operation of instrumentation systems onboard.
•Stay informed about emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in instrumentation and calibration to drive continuous improvement and innovation in ship machinery.
Requirements:
•Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Electrical &Electronics engg, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
•Proven experience in installing, calibrating, and maintaining instrumentation systems, preferably in the maritime industry.
•Strong knowledge of instrumentation principles, sensors, transmitters, signal conditioning, and control systems.
•Experience with calibration procedures and techniques for a wide range of instruments and control devices, including pressure, temperature, level, and flow.
•Familiarity with regulatory requirements and classification society rules related to instrumentation and calibration onboard vessels.
•Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
•Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
•Willingness to travel occasionally to vessels worldwide for service and support activities.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Bachelor or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
•Certifications or training in instrumentation and calibration techniques commonly used in the maritime industry.
•Experience with instrumentation software and data acquisition systems for monitoring and analyzing shipboard instrumentation data.
•Knowledge of condition monitoring, predictive maintenance, and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) techniques for ship machinery.
•Familiarity with safety management systems (SMS) and quality management systems (QMS) for shipboard operations.
