Job Description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Responsible for ensuring that all safety legislation is adhered to and policies and practices are adopted. To help plan, implement, monitor and review the protective and preventative measures required or choose to follow, and work to minimize operational losses, occupational health problems, accidents and injuries.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
·         Existence and awareness of a suitable and relevant health and safety policy and making a safe workplace without risk to health and satisfies health, safety and welfare requirements for ventilation, temperature, lighting, sanitary, washing and rest facilities.
·         Proper and timely assessment of risks to health and safety, and implementation of measures and arrangements identified as necessary from the assessments
·         Provision of emergency procedures, first-aid facilities, safety signs, relevant protective clothing and equipment, and incident reporting to the relevant authorities
·         The workplace satisfies health, safety and welfare requirements for ventilation, temperature, lighting, sanitary, washing and rest facilities.
·         Prevention and precautions against, or adequate control of, exposure to hazardous substances, and danger from flammable, explosive, electrical, noise, radiation and manual handling risks.
·         Making changes to working practices that are safe and comply with legislation
·         Preparing health and safety strategies and developing internal policy
·         Outlining safe operational procedures which identify and take account of all relevant hazards
·         Carrying out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented
·         Provision of suitable and current information and supervision concerning health and safety policies and practices
·         Directly supervise, manage and lead all safety officers and security guards in the performance of security, environmental health and safety tasks.
·         Regularly interact with senior and subordinate leadership within the safety organizational structure and client organization to identify issues, develop solutions and continually maintain clear lines of communication regarding all issues
·         Establish a mentor program to train junior leaders in positions of increased responsibility
