Greeting customers as they arrive, showing them to their tables and presenting them with menus.
Taking customer orders for food and beverages and communicating them to the kitchen staff.
Providing customers with information about the menu items, including ingredients and preparation methods, and making recommendations based on their preferences.
Serving food and beverages to customers in a timely and efficient manner.
Checking on customers periodically to ensure their satisfaction with their meals and addressing any issues or concerns they may have.
Processing customer payments and handling cash, credit cards, and other forms of payment.
Clearing tables and preparing them for the next customers.
Performing side work, such as stocking supplies and cleaning duties as assigned by management.
To perform the job effectively, a waiter must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be able to multitask and work well under pressure. Waiters must also have a good memory and be able to recall customer orders accurately. Depending on the establishment, a waiter may be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, and be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
