Key Responsibilities:
Navigational Duties:
•Safely operate and navigate the boat, considering weather conditions, tides, and navigational hazards.
•Utilize navigational tools and equipment, such as GPS, charts, and radar, to maintain the boat's course.
Safety and Emergency Response:
•Ensure the safety of passengers and crew members on board.
•Conduct safety drills and provide safety training for crew.
•Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures.
Maintenance and Repairs:
•Oversee the maintenance, repair, and general upkeep of the boat's equipment, engines, and systems.
•Coordinate with engineers and crew for regular inspections, servicing, and necessary repairs.
Crew Management:
•Supervise and manage the boat's crew, which may include assigning duties, ensuring crew safety, and maintaining discipline.
Compliance and Doentation:
•Ensure compliance with maritime laws and regulations specific to your boat's operations.
•Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including voyage records, maintenance logs, and crew records.
Passenger Services:
•Provide excellent customer service to passengers, including addressing their inquiries, concerns, and ensuring their comfort and safety during the journey.
Qualifications:
•Valid Captain's license or equivalent certification.
•Several years of experience as a boat captain with a proven safety record.
•Strong knowledge of maritime laws, regulations, and safety procedures.
•Proficiency in navigation equipment and technology.
•Strong communication and leadership skills.
•Ability to make decisions quickly and effectively.
•Physical fitness and endurance to work long hours at sea.
Working Conditions:
•Work primarily on the water.
•Irregular working hours, including weekends and holidays.
•Exposure to various weather conditions and physical labor.
