Job Summary:
As a Cashier in the UAE, you will be responsible for handling customer transactions at point of sale (POS) terminals. You will provide efficient and courteous service to customers, process payments accurately, and ensure a positive shopping experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service:
Greet customers entering the establishment and provide assistance as needed.
Answer customer inquiries and direct them to the appropriate service areas.
Resolve customer complaints in a professional manner, escalating issues to management when necessary.
Payment Processing:
Scan and process items accurately using POS systems.
Accept cash, credit card, and other forms of payment from customers.
Calculate and issue change accurately.
Cash Handling:
Count money in cash drawers at the beginning and end of shifts to ensure amounts are correct.
Maintain accurate transaction records and reconcile discrepancies.
Follow company procedures regarding cash handling and security measures.
Product Knowledge:
Learn about products or services offered by the establishment.
Provide information to customers regarding prices, promotions, and availability.
Sales Support:
Up-sell or cross-sell products when opportunities arise.
Promote loyalty programs or special offers to customers.
Cleanliness and Organization:
Maintain a clean and organized checkout area.
Ensure merchandise displays near the checkout are stocked and presentable.
Compliance and Safety:
Adhere to UAE regulations regarding sales transactions and customer interactions.
Follow safety and security procedures to prevent theft and maintain a safe working environment.
Skills and Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Proven work experience as a Cashier or in a similar role, preferably in retail.
Excellent mathematical skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to handle transactions accurately and efficiently.
Familiarity with POS systems and cash handling procedures.
Working Conditions:
Cashiers typically work in retail stores, supermarkets, or other establishments with regular store hours.
The role may involve standing for long periods and occasional lifting of moderate weights (such as bags or boxes).
