Knowledge of the different types of woods, and how they can be used to make different kinds of furniture items is required primarily.
Being able to use machinery.
Operates and performs preventative maintenance on hand and power saws, planers, lathes, joiners, sharpers, drills, sanders and a variety of hand tools.
Knowledge of tools, equipment, and materials common to the carpentry trade.
Knowledge of cabinet-making techniques, wood interiors.
Ability to estimate time and materials needed for assigned work projects.
Being physically fit.
Being able to perform measuring, sizing, and cutting tasks.
