Position Summary
The Head of Pharmacy is responsible for the overall management and operation of the hospital pharmacy. This includes ensuring the safe and effective distribution of medications, managing inventory, and providing clinical pharmacy services.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee all aspects of pharmacy operations, including medication procurement, inventory management, dispensing, and distribution.
Ensure the accuracy and safety of all medication dispensing activities.
Supervise pharmacy technicians and other staff.
Manage medication inventory levels to ensure adequate stock while minimizing wastage.
Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and best practices.
Monitor drug utilization trends and identify potential drug interactions or adverse drug reactions.
Participate in patient care rounds and provide clinical pharmacy services as needed.
Maintain accurate pharmacy records and prepare reports as required.
Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to optimize medication therapy.
Ensure the proper storage and handling of medications.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and research activities.
Stay abreast of new medications, drug therapies, and pharmacy regulations.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or equivalent degree
10+ years of experience as a pharmacist in a hospital setting
5+ years of experience in a management role
Licensed Pharmacist in the UAE (or eligibility to obtain one)
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
Excellent knowledge of pharmacy regulations and best practices
Proficiency in using pharmacy software and inventory management systems
Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
